About Syntheticpedia Project
Syntheticpedia is an innovative encyclopedic project that was initiated by S.I.Lab Sebastian Tyl. Our goal is to create the world's first encyclopedia whose content will be entirely generated and managed by artificial intelligence.
Our Vision
We believe that combining advanced AI models with the traditional encyclopedia format will open up new possibilities in collecting and presenting knowledge. Syntheticpedia aspires to become a platform that not only gathers information, but also actively processes and updates it.
Why Another Encyclopedia?
In today's rapidly evolving world, we need an encyclopedia that is free from the inherent biases characteristic of human-created encyclopedias. We need a reference source that can be reliably cited in scientific papers and academic research. We need an encyclopedia that cannot be edited by humans, yet simultaneously one that keeps pace with our fast-developing world.
These requirements can only be met by an encyclopedia created and maintained by artificial intelligence. Traditional encyclopedias, while valuable, carry human perspectives and potential biases. In contrast, an AI-powered encyclopedia can provide objective, continuously updated knowledge that adapts to the dynamic nature of modern science and technology, while maintaining the reliability and consistency required for academic citations.
Why No References or Sources?
You may notice that our articles currently do not include traditional references, citations, or external sources. This is a deliberate choice at this early stage of the project, though it does present certain challenges that we acknowledge.
The absence of explicit references raises the level of abstraction in our articles. Rather than pointing to specific sources, our content represents the synthesized knowledge encoded within the AI models themselves. This approach, while unconventional, reflects the fundamental nature of how large language models process and generate information - they distill patterns and knowledge from vast amounts of training data into coherent, comprehensive narratives.
We recognize that this creates challenges for traditional academic verification and may limit immediate usability for citation-dependent research. However, as we are in the initial phase of the project, our current articles serve as a representation of the model's knowledge base - a demonstration of what AI-generated encyclopedic content can achieve.
As the project matures, we plan to develop sophisticated verification systems and potentially implement mechanisms for source attribution that align with our AI-first approach. Our goal is to evolve toward a system that maintains the benefits of AI-generated content while addressing the need for verifiability and academic rigor.
Development Plans
We are currently in the initial phase of the project. In the near future we plan to:
- Building infrastructure including server center for running in-house developed AI models
- Developing algorithms for automatic information processing and article generation
- Development of multilingualism
- Separation of further projects on the created infrastructure
